Regional Transport Coordinator for Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific – European Investment Bank (EIB)
Ms. Zumel is the EU Bank’s Transport Coordinator for Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, with a focus on regional policy and its translation into concrete projects with impact on the ground. As such, she follows the EIB’s investments and technical assistance operations, as well as policy and strategy. Apart from this, she works on the EIB’s Transport Safety strategy, with a particular focus on road safety and investments in land-based infrastructure.
Prior to this, she was adviser to EIB Management and held various senior positions within the Dutch government. Amongst others, she was the lead climate finance negotiator at EU and COP level, and the Treasury’s senior representative for donor engagement and investments in development, sustainability and energy. As an economist and a social geographer, she also worked on these issues at staff and board level at the EBRD, the GCF, the IMF and the UN.
