Lise Weidner

Head of Strategic Roads Division, European Investment Bank (EIB)

Lise Weidner is the Head of the Strategic Roads Division in the Mobility Department of EIB’s Projects Directorate. 

Lise is a transport infrastructure executive with more than 25 years of globally achieved experience working for a leading law firm in Scandinavia and three International Financial Institutions (IFIs), i.e. the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility. 

Lise has worked on large transport infrastructure projects in South Asia. She contributed to India’s large scale PPP programme in the road sector and has – in addition to her project work – developed Transport Sector strategies, Road Sector Master plans, Regional transport logistics and capacity building programmes in Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. In Africa, Lise was the project team leader for a series of regional road corridors in Zambia and Malawi and a strategic road project in Mauritius. She was the task manager of the National Multimodal Transport Master Plan in Zambia and was in charge of the implementation of the East Africa Trade and Transport Facilitation project.  

Since joining EIB in early 2015, Lise worked as transport economist on strategic roads PPP projects and investment programmes in Europe. In April 2018, she took over the management of the Strategic Roads Division, which appraises and monitors all major highway projects across the world in which EIB invests.  

Lise Weidner holds a Masters in Law from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and an International Master of Business Administration from the Instituto de Empresa, Madrid, Spain.
