Back to a sustainable future: achieving resilient connectivity for post-COVID-19 sustained recovery and economic growth – UNECE Inland Transport Committee High-Level Policy Segment

February 23, 2021 All day

The eighty-third annual session of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will be held virtually through a combination of online platforms on 23-26 February 2021.

The session will start with a High-level policy segment on “Back to a sustainable future: achieving resilient connectivity for post-COVID-19 sustained recovery and economic growth”. The world experienced a global emergency of unseen proportions for a peace-time era due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its epidemiological and socioeconomic impacts. Achieving a swift recovery and enhancing the preparedness of inland transport systems against future emergencies will be at the centre of the high-level discussions.

The IRF President, Mr. Bill Halkias, will be part of panel I that will address ways to achieve this swift recovery by leveraging existing international transport connectivity solutions as enablers of economic growth and development. Leading figures from the policy and business world will share their insights and exchange views through interactive discussions with an audience of influential policy-makers and key transport organisations and businesses. All sessions will be followed by a discussion.
