Regional Seminar on Road Safety Audits for Decision Makers; & International Course on Road Safety Engineering and Audits

IRF together with the Tanzania Roads Association (TARA), Tanzania Transportation Technology Transfer (TanT2) Centre and TANROADS are pleased to join hands and to present a 1 day Regional Seminar on Road Safety Audits to be held at Kisenga LAPF International Conference Centre, LAPF Towers, Makumbusho, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 16th September 2019 followed by a 4 days International Course on Road Safety Engineering and Audits to be held at the same venue from 17th – 20th September 2019. Delegates to attend the International Course on Road Safety Engineering and Audits are also required to attend the Regional Seminar on Road Safety Audits for Decision Makers.

The primary objectives of the seminar which is intended for persons who typically have the responsibility for decision-making in one or more areas of road safety is to share expertise/knowledge, experiences and best practices on Road Safety in particular Road Safety Audits to facilitate decision makers appreciate the basics and importance of road safety audits to be able to support and initiate carrying out Road Safety Audits in their areas of jurisdictions after attending the seminar.

This 4-days Course on Road Safety Engineering and Audits comprises a wide range of lectures, workshops and an intensive practical hands-on training delivered by experts of international reputation. The course provides participants with practical information on how to conduct a road safety audit. Participants learn how to improve transportation safety by applying a proactive approach that includes examination of a future and existing road. Participants will have opportunity to work in teams to investigate and analyse a real-life case study and design an appropriate remedial programme. Each team produces a written report and a presentation on the final day of the course. Each participant will receive training materials.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Review the Road Safety Situation in their Respective Countries;
  • Discuss Road Safety Audit (RSA) Concepts;
  • Identify and Explain Steps for Conducting RSA;
  • Perform RSA as a Member of a Team;
  • Explain the Way Forward in Addressing RSA Related Issues in their Areas of Jurisdiction

Delegates attending the seminar and those completing the course will receive a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Certificate of Attendance recognised by the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania. Also, the course is accredited with the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania. Any registered engineer who will attend the seminar on road safety audits and the International Course on Road Safety Engineering and Audits for 5 days consecutively as scheduled, is eligible to earn a total of 27 Professional Development Units (PDUs) in his/her Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme.
