Young professionals gather in IRFYP Summit 2021
Over 300 young professionals took part in the second edition of the IRF Young Professionals Summit held virtually on September 29, 2021.
This year’s summit revolved around the theme, “Towards a Greener and Safer Mobility” and had four specific parts: mobilizing mobility, sustainable mobility, resilient mobility and safe mobility. A total of 21 speakers coming from 14 countries (Argentina, Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, India, Mexico, The Philippines, South Korea, Spain, Tanzania, United Kingdom, United States and Zimbabwe) took part as speakers, panelists and paper presenters.

“The IRF wants to make sure that we not only give space to the younger generation but we also pay attention to gender diversity and we reach out to all the regions of the world,” Susanna Zammataro shared in her opening remarks.
The speakers were aged between 22 and 35 years old and were emerging young leaders in e-mobility, low-carbon transport, public governance, urban planning, architecture, engineering, information and communications technology, road safety, and public health.
“[We] believe in the power of the youth to innovate… The mobility sector should embrace the path to sustainability and to do that, it is clear that we have to do things differently,” she emphasized.
The virtual summit doubled in length this year and took four hours which featured ten-minute presentations from speakers followed by a short question and answer and panel discussion.
