The International Road Federation (IRF) hosted on Friday 11 September, Mr Florent Menegaux, CEO of Michelin for the very first ‘IRF Executives Talks’. The event kicked off this new series of 30-minutes discussions with CEOs and high-level executives from the world’s most innovative and influential companies and organisations in our industry that IRF will be hosting regularly over the next months.

Commenting on the recent news of Michelin regaining position 1 in the global ranking for tire industry, Menegaux said « It’s a great honor and a reward for our teams around the world, especially in this unprecedented times. It’s the result of our teams’ hard work ».

Questionned on how Michelin coped with the lockdown and overall the Covid-19 pandemic, Menegaux stated “During this crisis, not only did we protect our employees but supported all our communities. We supported also our providers by continuing placing orders and we donated masks to health authorities”.

Discussing on what recovery should look like and on the future of mobility, the CEO stressed the need to bet on collective intelligence and the ecosystem approach. He made reference to Movin’On not only an international Summit that takes place in Montreal, with 5,000 participants but also a Think and Do Tank via the Movin’On LAB, whose job is to promote sustainable mobility for a better quality of life.

“Believe in you, in the technology, in the collective wisdom and your work will be what you want it to be. Have faith in corporations, in your governments and in the power of your vote. It will be better tomorrow!” was the encouraging message Menegaux addressed to the younger generations in his concluding remarks.
