International Conference on “Road Safety & Mobility”
October 24, 2018 - October 25, 2018

The International Road Federation (Geneva, Switzerland) is pleased to join hands with The Emirati Traffic Safety Society (ETSS), The Arab Road Safety Organization (AROSO), la Prévention Routière Internationale (PRI) to support the International Conference on “Road Safety and Mobility” which will take place in Abu Dhabi – UAE, on 24-25 October 2018.
The conference program will focus specifically on Pillar II “Safer Roads and Mobility” of the Decade of Action for Road Safety (2011-2020) due to its sensitive impact on reducing road traffic fatalities.
One of the objectives of the conference is to look into ways to raise the inherent safety and protective quality of road networks for the benefit of all road users, especially the most vulnerable. This can be achieved through the implementation of the various international agreements on transport under the UN framework, with thorough road infrastructure assessment and improved safety-conscious planning, design, construction and operation of roads.
The Project group “Safer Roads of Mobility” of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration Group (UNRSC) has produced a number of knowledge resources and tools that clearly show the impact that properly designed and managed infrastructure can have in reducing the number of traffic fatalities and injuries. These resources are available to everyone on the IRF’s knowledge Centre “The Global Transport Knowledge Practice”: https://www.gtkp.com They span from policy measures to engineering solutions. The conference will offer the opportunity to explore in detail those solutions.
The Organizers invite authors to submit abstracts by 27 September 2018 on one or more of the themes listed below:
1. The safe system approach / Vision Zero
2. Infrastructure safety management – policies, standards, guidelines and tools
3. Global level – Pillar 2 of the Global Plan: Safer Roads and Mobility
The exhaustive listing of the themes and additional information about detailed in the document “Call for Papers” that you can access from menu on the left.
