IRF General Assembly elects three new members to the Board of Directors

The General Assembly of the International Road Federation (IRF) in Geneva has unanimously elected three new members to the Board of Directors : Mr. Hamdi AYDIN, Board Member,  at the Turkish Road Association, Mr. Slobodan BASURIC, Technical Director at PE Roads of Serbia and Mr. Michael CALTABIANO, Chief Executive Officer at the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB).

“We are excited to welcome these three outstanding professionals to our Board of Directors. They bring a wealth of experience, greater geographical diversity and will be able to innovate while ensuring continuity with IRF values. The organisations they represent have been part of the IRF family for decades” said Bill Halkias, IRF President in welcoming the three new members to the Board.

The Annual General Assembly was an opportunity to review IRF 2019 activities and to celebrate achievements. The year has been successful and marked by: the signature MoUs with European Association of Operators of Toll Road Infrastructures (ASECAP) and the University of Qatar; impactful policy and advocacy activities in the framework of the World Bank-led Sustainable Mobility for All (SuM4All) and the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration Group (UNRSC); training and capacity building around the world, to mention a few.

Covid-19 crisis was indeed part of the discussion with members providing an update on the situation in their respective countries and discussing needed steps forward for the sector.

IRF will be soon releasing a paper outlining opportunity for more sustainable road infrastructure development at the time of Covid-19. More info available on www.irfnet.ch
