Active since 1948, the International Road Federation (IRF) is a membership-based organisation representing leading corporate and institutional players drawn from the road and mobility sectors worldwide. The IRF promotes the development of roads and road networks that enable access and sustainable mobility for all.

Vision

A world of safe, sustainable, and efficient roads and road networks.

Mission

To promote the development of roads and road networks that enable access and sustainable mobility for all.

Values

Commitment to safe, smart & sustainable roads.

Activities

The IRF places its focus around 4 core pillars of activities: knowledge and expertise transfer and sharing; connecting people, businesses, and organisations; policy and advocacy; and data collection and dissemination.

Knowledge & Expertise

IRF fosters innovation and progress by providing access to and sharing of cutting-edge knowledge and expertise.

Networking

IRF brings people, businesses, countries and organisations together to exchange ideas, define solutions to common problems and to forge partnerships that deliver.

Policy & Advocacy

IRF engages with decision makers at international, national and local level to bring about positive change and to advance the sustainable road transport and mobility agenda.

Data & Statistics

IRF provides insights into the sector and beyond by annually producing the World Road Statistics (WRS) and by facilitating analysis and use of data via the IRF Road Data Warehouse.

IRF Statistics

World Road Statistics

Since 1964, IRF has been the lead curator and supplier of the most comprehensive world road data. Released annually, the World Road Statistics includes data from over 200 countries on nearly every subject matter important to road and transport data. The composition of this extensive data provides great benefits to a wide range of actors, supplying invaluable data on roads that is inaccessible anywhere else.
